A common way of forming company names is: sharika + “company name” + li-l- + “scope of business” for example,
شركة كبرى للاستثمارات sharika Kubra li-l-istithmaaraat (company Kubra for investments)
شركة حمد للنقليات sharika Hamad li-n-naqliyaat (company Hamad for transportation)
شركة مريم للتجميل sharika Maryam li-t-tajmiil (company Mary for ‘beautifying’, meaning a beauty salon)
Many times ‘sharika’ is omitted, e.g. أبو شهاب للعقارات Abu Shehaab li-l-^agaaraat Abu Shehaab for Real Estate. Sometimes, you hear “company name” + “feminine adjective defining the scope of business”, e.g. أبو شهاب العقارية Abu Shehaab al-^agaariya The adjective ^agaariya, meaning ‘pertaining to real estate’, is feminine because the word sharika is feminine even though it’s not mentioned.
