siida (also ra’san) – straight ahead

3ala shaari3 baghdaad – on Baghdad Avenue

3ala l-mayz – on the table

ta7t il-mayz – under the table

ta7t il-kursi – under the chair

jamb/yamm/yanb – beside, next to

jamb il-masjid – next to the mosque

gariib min il-jaami3 – close to, near the (Friday) mosque

Note: jaami3 (plural jawaami3) is a large mosque, where the Friday prayers take place. Masjid/masyid (plural masaajid/masayid) is a small one, more ubiquitous.

ba3iid 3an wasaT il-madiina – far from the city center

wara il-mabna – behind the building

giddaam baytna – in front of our house

giddaam il-maTaar – in front of the airport

mgaabil il-maS3ad – opposite the elevator

mgaabil il-bank – opposite the bank
