Gulf Arabic Grammar - To Have: 3ind + Prepositional Suffix

There is no verb to have. Its meaning is usually expressed by the preposition 3ind (at) and a prepositional suffix, e.g.

3indi fluus waayid – I have a lot of money
inta ma 3indik? – Don’t you have?(You don’t have?)

shay – something, anything, a thing
fagiir (pl. fugara) - poor
il fagiir ma 3indah shay – the poor (person) doesn’t have anything


ghani (pl. aghniya) – rich
kethiir (kethiira, kethiriin) – many (like waayid)
il-aghniya 3indhum sayyaraat kethiira – (the) rich (people) have many cars
